GEAR
Do you have an awareness of your emotions?
Have you discovered your true identity?
GEAR is a short film that uses two videos on one screen to depict the experience of social anxiety and social anxiety disorder. On the left-hand side of the screen, we see the daily life of a 25-year-old office worker who appears to be struggling with social anxiety disorder. On the right-hand side, a gear is shown, which represents her emotions and features a shift lever. As the video progresses, the gear lever on the right side moves by itself to reflect her growing anxiety and loss of emotional control.
The aim of the video is to deepen the world's understanding of mental health. While attitudes towards this topic are improving globally, many still view mental health issues negatively or as a personal failing. This video aims to deepen our understanding of the invisible feelings of trauma and promote a more empathetic approach to mental health.
We hope that this video will help people who have experienced similar struggles with social anxiety disorder to better understand their emotions and improve their lives. By shining a light on this often-misunderstood condition, I hope to contribute to a more supportive and inclusive world for those struggling with mental health issues.
